“Sustainability is no longer about doing less harm. It's about doing more good.”
Jochen Zeitz
APPROACH 1: LCA/ Life Cycle Design
The transition from a linear to a circular economy it's coming and it is necessary, it will be the basis of near-future productions.
We use a systemic design approach based on the life cycle assessment and its correct data interpretations. By following this method, we are able to apply the guidelines needed to reduce the environmental impacts of products and services.
APPROACH 2: Social Design
Environmental problems are often interconnected with situations of social disadvantage and scarcity of resources, that’s why both these aspects have to be considered in the whole project planning.
Social design aims to increase the wellbeing of communities and individuals, and reaches its best effectiveness when users are involved in the design phase, for example in the participatory planning and human centered design practices.
APPROACH 3: Sustainable Materials
For many products the material chosen in the concept phase becomes one of the most impacting factors within its entire lifecycle.
The choice of materials therefore becomes an environmental issue as well as performative, which may lead the designer to experiment innovative solutions, proposing a more sustainable material with the same or better performances to reach the goal of the project.
Do you think you have the environmental requirements to join our network as supplier or partner?
APPROACH 4: Environmental Education
A sustainable project, if not well communicated, loses part of its value.
It is equally important to know how to adequately communicate the sustainability of a product, using concrete and verifiable data, environmental reports and LCA analysis, as well as certifications and graphics on the finished product which can talk to the users, raising their awareness on environmental issues and improving purchase decisions.
The consequences of environmental inefficiency in production and consumption are now evident and often destructive.
As Ecodesigner, we use Life Cycle Design and sustainable design strategies with the aim of minimizing environmental impacts. We use experimentation and self-production to create innovative scenarios.
Most of the environmental impact of products, services and infrastructure around us is determined in the design phase. - EU, Ecodesign directive
The choice of suppliers since the design phase is essential to minimize the transport of material goods and the impacts on the environment.
Logistics is the nerves and blood vessels of today's overweight economy. - Jhon Thackara
Our activities are related to different age groups and to different levels of knowledge: We aim to expand the culture of environmental sustainability by highlighting its opportunity rather than limits.
Learn, knowledge makes everything more simple - John Maeda, The laws of simplicity.
